Galveston County Parks are visited by thousands of people each year. In 1998, the Park system was adopted by the Galveston County Commissioners Court. In the fall of 2002, the Commissioners Court voted to place the Senior Citizens Programs under the jurisdiction of the Galveston County Department of Parks and Senior Services. Some of the parks names are as follows: Bayshore, Carbide Park, Elva Lobit Park, Fort Travis Park, Gregory, DeSoto, Jack Brooks, La Salle, Runge Park, and Walter Hall Park.
